Chandigarh, May 10
Batte lines for supremacy in the electoral fight has finally extended to Ludhiana in Punjab.

While the NDA chose Ludhiana to demonstrate its unity and strength, the Congress has decided to wrap up its election campaign for the 15th Lok Sabha by making Prime Minister Manmohan Singh address his last press conference before the May 13 polls on Monday at 1pm. Campaigning comes to an end four hours later.

This press conference will follow election rallies he is scheduled to address in Amritsar and Khadoor Sahib on Monday. His decision to choose Ludhiana in preference to Amritsar or Chandigarh for the final press conference explains the importance Congress gives to Ludhiana and Punjab.

While the Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary of the Congress, have been playing Sikh Prime Minister card to woo Punjab voters in support of Congress candidates, the BJP-led NDA has been exhorting Punjabis to play the same role as they had played in the freedom struggle as well as in getting the Emergency lifted and first non-Congress government at the Centre.
