Stamp paper scam being hushed up?

The involvement of an Akali leader in the fake stamp paper scam seems to have cast a shadow on the investigation as the police has only booked a stamp vendor while the Sub-Registrar (Central) had confirmed there were more people who were running the racket. The fact is that an Akali leader, stated to be close to a very senior leader, is a major link in the scam, and no action is being taken against him and other racketeers.

Man gets life term for killing wife

The court of Additional Sessions Judge Munish Singal has convicted Narinder Singh of Sunaran Wali Gali, Purana Bazar, Sahnewal, on the charges of killing his wife Kuldeep Kaur as she was proving to be a hurdle in his extra marital affair with a woman.

Even as the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) is grappling with the problem of meeting the increased demand for electricity in the state due to spurt in temperature and unscheduled power cuts ranging from two to four hours having become a routine, the consumers might have to pay more for power in a month or so if the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Authority concedes the plea for a power tariff hike by the PSEB.

A man reportedly committed suicide by jumping before a train yesterday. The victim jumped before the Ludhiana-bound 2 LF passenger train, coming from Ferozepur, near the Chowkiman village railway station around 8 am.

5 booked for credit card fraud
