Scam saga
Jaspal Bhatti

I asked my son, "What is the 2G scam all about?" He said, "Must be some government scam. Apparently G stands for Government and 2 for double — the double government scam." I said, "Shame on you." He said, "Why shame on me. I am not involved in the scam." I said, "Because of your poor general knowledge, as 2G is a spectrum that supports 2nd generation telecom technology." He said, ‘But it also seems to have supported A. Raja. Does he belong to the 2nd generation of politicians?"’

"Listen carefully" I told him, "Telecom Minister A. Raja had sold 2G spectrum rights in 2008 according his own whims, while the country is said to have suffered a loss of Rs 1.77 lakh crore."

My son said, "Dad, do clarify — does the bandwidth 1G, 2G or 3G depends upon the magnitude of data it transfers or the money the minister in-charge makes out of while selling the bandwidth?" I answered, "Beta, you have confused me but one thing I do agree with that all scams should be classified on the basis of generations. All investigations into old scams less than Rs 1,000 crore should be quashed."

"If some new department is created to evaluate these scams scientifically, I would like to apply for the post of its director," said my son. I said, "How will you qualify?" He said, "By submitting fake certificates."
