New Delhi, December 27
PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi. Even as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wrote to the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) volunteering to appear before it to clarify his position in the 2G scam, committee chairman Murli Manohar Joshi dispelled his party’s myth that the PAC was limited to “examining the CAG paras.” The BJP has been pressing for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the scam.

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and his CPM today hit back at Home Minister P Chidambaram, accusing him of being "partisan" with a motive to "please" Trinamool Congress and serve its "political interests". The CPM ire against Chidambaram was fuelled by his letter to Bhattacharjee questioning the alleged role of armed CPM cadres in West Bengal and for his remarks on the law and order situation and further compounded by the "leak" of letter's contents to the media.

Adarsh Society fails to file reply 
New Delhi, December 27
Scam-hit Mumbai's Adarsh Housing Society has failed to file its reply to the show-cause notice served by the Union Environment Ministry asking why its 31-storeyed building at Colaba should not be demolished for allegedly violating green laws. "They have not filed the reply," a senior Ministry official said adding the hearing of the case has, however, been scheduled for December 29.
