Power play
Jaspal Bhatti
Sometimes
I feel that I am a very
powerful Indian. The feeling only comes during the elections when
there is a voter card in my pocket. Otherwise, most of the time I feel
powerless. I think, all married men also feel powerless in front of
their wives.
Recently, there was the
biggest power outage in India that made every Indian citizen feel
powerless. More than half of the Indian population was without power.
But political power games are beyond my comprehension. Power minister
Sushil Kumar Shinde was promoted to become the country’s Home
Minister. Many tweeted and re-tweeted that as power minister Shinde
made millions of people powerless and now as home minister he would
make millions homeless. When even our Prime Minister has been feeling
powerless for so many years without a grumble we should not crib about
being powerless. Who were the most powerful and lucky people during
power cuts? Without doubt, these were generator and inverter
manufacturers.
Taking about power, a
man was boasting about his powers and authority in his house before
his friends. "I have complete control over my wife. I am the boss
of my house." Meanwhile, he heard his wife coming coming and
slipped below the cot. His wife shouted, "Why are you hiding
under the bed? Come out," she said." The man said, " I
am the master of the house. I will come out at my own wish"
