Cubic watermelons
Dr Chiranjit Parmar
 Farmers
of Zentsuji city, Kagawa Prefecture, of western Japan, are
growing water melons which are cube shaped. These fruits are developed
by putting the young growing fruits in cube-shaped transparent plastic
containers. The fruits measure 13x13x13 cm. Besides cubes, the fruits
are grown in other fancy shapes too. These fruits have been have been
specially developed for sale in American supermarkets. The farmers
expect these fruits to fetch a price of 10,000 Japanese yens (Rs
5,662) a piece.
