The Ministry of Defence today altered the mode of purchase of equipment for the Indian armed forces by allowing local private sector companies to produce military aircraft in collaboration with foreign collaborators. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley took the decision as he chaired his first Defence Acquisition Council meeting.

Haryana wants Centre to withdraw HSGPC letter

Volunteers of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today heightened vigil at gurdwaras managed by the body in Haryana. The Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (HSGPC), on the other hand, has decided to hold peace marches from tomorrow.

While the Punjab Government struggles to keep its waters within the state boundaries for local consumption, Shiromani Akali Dal�s Rajya Sabha MP Balwinder Singh Bhunder is allowing its illegal release into neighbouring Haryana to ensure his agricultural land is well fed. Bhunder has been allowing around 200 cusecs water to flow into Haryana every month to irrigate his fields in Kahnewal village of Mansa.
