LPL 2023 auction rules and process explained:

Much like the IPL auction, the players participating in the bidding arena will be divided into two groups- capped and uncapped players. Notably, each capped player will be able to register themselves in the auction under base prices from $10,000 to $50,000 in $10,000 increments.

Uncapped players with a minimum of 50 First-Class matches played will be registered with a base price of $20,000. Players with a minimum of 25 First-Class matches or a minimum of 18 matches in the LPL or any other equivalent T20 franchise leagues will be registered under the price of $10,000. Moreover, players who do not meet either of the criteria will be classed with a base price of $5000.

Each franchise will have a squad for 20-24 players, which includes a mandatory six overseas players. Assuming a franchise has not spent from the pre-signing purse, the remaining kitty cannot be carried to the auction. The bidding can begin at any point between two teams; however, if a third team wishes to enter the fray, they will need to wait until one of the first two teams has withdrawn from the process.

LPL 2023 accelerated auction:

After the first 70 names, an ‘accelerated’ auction process will take place wherein teams will be allowed to nominate 15-20 players, including unsold players, who will go under the hammer.
