The West Indies defeated United Arab Emirates (UAE) 3-0 in the recently concluded ODI series. Ahead of the ODI World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe, this will definitely boost their confidence as the two-time 50-over World Champions will be gunning to make it to the main round of the competition. Notably, the Shai Hope-led side tested plenty of their players in the series to identify their playing XI for the competition.

Top order batter Brandon King was one of the most impressive players as the 27-year-old scored 176 runs in two matches to be adjudged Player of the Series. The cricketer thanked the team management for giving him confidence and trusting him to play his shots.

I have been going through my game, and the team has trusted me to play my shots: Brandon King

“It was good to get that century, but it is all part of the process. I have been going through my game, and the team has trusted me to play my shots. It was looking good for another hundred, but didn't come off. (On UAE) They provided a good challenge, this is their home so they know how to bowl on the pitch better than us. Always enjoy coming here, enjoy playing in the UAE,” Hope was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Notably, in the third and final ODI of the series, the visiting team dropped some of their regular players and tested their bench strength. However, UAE couldn’t make the most of it as batting first, the Muhammad Waseem-led side posted 184 runs on board after Vriitya Aravind hit 70 off 75. Kevin Sinclair picked four wickets while Yannic Cariah picked two to derail UAE. When it came to the chase, Alick Athanaze played a crucial knock of 65 off 45 as West Indies won by four wickets.
