2 fraudsters dupe man of Rs 37,000

CHANDIGARH: In yet another case of cheating, two fraudsters allegedly duped a man of Rs 37,000 outside a bank in Sector 37 after befooling him by handing over a bundle of papers.



Chandigarh, December 18

In yet another case of cheating, two fraudsters allegedly duped a man of Rs 37,000 outside a bank in Sector 37 after befooling him by handing over a bundle of papers.

According to the police, the complainant, Manoj Kumar, a resident of Behlolpur village in Mohali district, reported that he went to deposit the money in his father’s bank account at the Central Bank of India in Sector 37 yesterday.

The victim stated that while he was depositing the money, two persons approached him and asked him to come outside the bank. The suspects claimed that they had stolen Rs 2 lakh from Ludhiana and wanted the victim’s help in depositing the money. The suspects claimed that they would deposit the money of the victim and took the cash from him and in return handed over a bundle wrapped in a cloth to him. The suspects asked the victim to wait till they deposited his money.

The victim kept waiting outside the bank. However, the suspects did not return after which he opened the packet and found that it contained papers. The victim informed the police after which a case was registered against unknown persons at the Sector 39 police station. — TNS

On December 11, two fraudsters allegedly duped an 18-year-old youth of Rs 31,500 after fooling him on the pretext of exchanging his money with Rs 500 currency notes at Sector 17.
