60-year-old dies as tempo rams bicycle

ZIRAKPUR: In a hit-and-run, a 60-year-old man was killed when his bicycle was reportedly hit by Tata tempo on the Patiala-Zirakpur stretch here on Saturday morning.

In a hit-and-run, a 60-year-old man was killed when his bicycle was reportedly hit by Tata tempo on the Patiala-Zirakpur stretch here on Saturday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Hari Ram, a resident of Khizargarh, Banur.

According to the police, the victim had come to Azizpur in the morning for some work. While he was on his way back, a tempo hit his bicycle in the rear near Green Dhaba. The tempo driver sped away. Hari Ram died on the spot, said the police.

A case against the unidentified tempo driver has been registered at the Zirakpur police station.

The body was handed over to the deceased’s family members after a post-mortem examination, added the police.
