Kite flying in Mohali

MOHALI: The Mohali Dasehra Committee will fly a large kite — over 21-foot long and 21-foot wide — before kicking off the festival celebrations in Phase 8 tomorrow.

Mohali, October 7

The Mohali Dasehra Committee will fly a large kite — over 21-foot long and 21-foot wide — before kicking off the festival celebrations in Phase 8 tomorrow.

The committee president Madhu Bhushan said flying of the large-sized kite will be a new feature to the Dasehra festivities. “We have arranged a special fabric kite for the purpose. Residents could also join us in the kite-flying event, which will start at 3 pm tomorrow,” said Madhu Bhushan.

He said Punjab Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu would be the chief guest. The committee will also burn an effigy of terrorism.

The celebrations will also take place at Phase 1, Mataur and Balongi.

Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said proper security arrangements at all Dasehra venues have been made. “Apart from security arrangements, traffic police would also be deputed at various sites to manage the vehicles in the area,” said the SSP.
