Mohali, September 17

After waiting for years to recover the dues from cricket associations for providing security to the teams during their matches at the PCA Stadium here, the Mohali Police claim to have received a significant chunk of the dues.

According to sources, Indian Premier League and cricket bodies like Board for Control of Cricket in India owed the police around Rs 15 crore for years.

A senior police officer said they had recently received a payment of around Rs 9 crore from the sports bodies.

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal said the matter had been sorted out. However, he refused to give details.

Police sources said repeated reminders were sent to the cricket bodies for the recovery of the dues.

Some of the bills were pending for over 20 years.
