Punjabi University, Patiala, won the All India Inter-University Women's Baseball Championship, concluded at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, on Friday. The Patiala outfit logged a 1-0 win against Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak, to claim the title.
Anjali pitched well to dominate against the Rohtak team. Punjabi University remained unbeaten in the tournament. Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna (HNB) Gharwal University claimed the third position by defeating Nagpur University 11-1.
Earlier, in the semis, MDU girls outplayed Nagpur University 10-0 as Chetna scored two home runs. Punjabi University meanwhile beat HNB Gharwal University 11-0. Bhawna scripted an easy win for the Patiala team by defending two bases. —TNS
