Eight months after an alleged CLU scam rocked the state Assembly, members of a committee, formed by the Local Government Minister recently, inspected Grand Manor Homes (luxury apartments project of a private firm) site on Gill Road on Saturday morning. After taking measurements all gates at the project site were locked and sealed.

Earlier, officials of the Municipal Corporation (MC) had claimed to have sealed gates of the project site in March 2019, but one of the gates was found open a day after the sealing drive.

One of the complainants, Kuldeep Singh Khaira said earlier, the project was partially sealed as the main entry was left open by officials of the MC.

He claimed that the project site was completely sealed only on Saturday after inspection by committee members.

The Assistant Town Planner (Headquarters), SS Bindra, said, “All project sites gates have already been sealed. Earlier, the construction work at the site was stopped. Gates were opened for inspection of the site by committee members today. After inspection, these gates were sealed again.”

“We took required measurements at the site today. Videography was also done. After inspection, project gates were locked again. We will submit a report in this regard and the government will take further decision,” said Karnesh Sharma, Director, Local Government.

In February 2019, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Sarvjit Kaur Manuke, had raised the matter of alleged CLU scam in Punjab Vidhan Sabha. AAP leaders had also dragged name of a Cabinet Minister in this case for allegedly threatening a DSP, who conducted an inquiry in the project.
