CHANDIGARH: Dr Ramesh Kumar Sen has been elected as the president of the Indian Orthopaedic Association.

Dr Ramesh Kumar Sen has been elected as the president of the Indian Orthopaedic Association.

Dr Sen is presently working as a senior director and head of institute of orthopaedics at Max Hospital in Mohali. Online voting for the post was held on Sunday. Dr Sen polled 81 per cent of the total votes. He will first take over as the vice-president of the association in 2019 and as president in 2021.

More than 14,000 orthopaedic surgeons from across the country are members of the association.

Dr Sen had joined the PGIMER in 1993 as Assistant Professor and retired as Professor in 2014. Dr Sen has expertise in joint replacement surgery. He has demonstrated his surgical skill in several live surgical training courses both outside and inside the country.

He has earlier been the chairman of the research committee of the Indian Orthopaedic Association, president of the North Zone Orthopaedic Association and Association of Pelvi-Acetabular Surgeons of India.
