JU Vice-Chancellor chairs meeting

Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, on Wednesday chaired an Appellate Committee meeting of the deans /rectors/directors/heads of the departments/ nodal departments and members of the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) core committee/conveners.



Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, on Wednesday chaired an Appellate Committee meeting of the deans /rectors/directors/heads of the departments/ nodal departments and members of the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) core committee/conveners. Prof Dhar said the university faced several hiccups during the admission process in view of certain unavoidable circumstances at various intervals of time. “Nonetheless, the admission process of system of the university is so robust that various committees were constituted to ensure that total transparency is adhered to in the admission process and every opportunity was given to students to apply for various,” JU Vice Chancellor said.

CTA resents change in timing

A meeting of college Teachers Association (CTA) was held on Wednesday with president Prof DS Manhas to discuss various representations received from the staff secretaries of the constituent colleges of Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ). They expressed resentment regarding change in the timings by the Higher Education Department from 9 am to 5 pm with five-days a week and Saturday also as working day. The CTA stated that as per UGC regulations, there was provision of both six days a week as well as five days a week with 40 hours working per week which included direct teaching of 16 hours for assistant professors and 14 hours teaching for associate professors. It added that while changing the timings, the main stakeholders viz students and teachers were not taken into confidence nor was the change of timings mentioned in the brochure of CLUJ at the time of admissions.

Udhayveer wins gold in fencing 

Udhayveer Singh Chandel of Dogra Law College has bagged gold medal in inter-college fencing competition organised by the University of Jammu. Udhayveer is a national medallist in fencing. He had also won medal in the championship held in 2018. The management, principal, teachers, and students of Dogra Law College congratulated him.

ABVP remembers Swami Vivekananda

A programme was organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), University of Jammu, to remember Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech at Chicago. Prof Vivek Kumar from Central University of Jammu was the main speaker. Dr Vivek Kumar said Vivekananda was a role model not only for the youth in India, but throughout the world. He said Swami Vivekananda was only given two minutes to speak at the World Religions Conference in 1893, but he spoke for two hours as people loved his words.
