Swimmers to represent state in Sub-Junior, Junior Nationals

The swimmers have been selected to represent Punjab in the 36th Sub-Junior and 46th Junior National Aquatic Championship-2019 slated to be held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Complex Swimming Pool, Rajkot in Gujarat from June 26 to 30.

According to Balraj Sharma, honorary general secretary, Punjab Swimming Association, these swimmers were selected during the trials held on June 2 at Sangrur wherein around 140 boys and girls took part in the selection process.

The association has been organising preparatory camp for 16 water-polo probables since June7 at the Sports School Swimming Pool, Jalandhar, without any monetary assistance from the Punjab Sports Department. Sushil Kohli, Asian Games bronze medallist and Dronacharya awardee has been imparting coaching to the probables. A 13-member water-polo squad will be announced at the conclusion of this camp, said Sharma.

The selected swimmers in the sub-junior category are Ojas Sund, Aditya Trehan, Kartikey Bahl, Sahibjot Kaur and Bhagyvardka Verma from Ludhiana; Jujhar Singh and Aporva Sharma from Mohali; Rehat Batth from Jalandhar; Agamteshwar Singh from Patiala and Vinaayaka Mahajan from Pathankot.

Junior section- Aakashdeep Singh and Bhavjot Kaur from Ludhiana; Paramraj Singh and Chetanya Singla from Patiala; Uday Sharma and Suryansh Sharma from Hoshiarpur; Gurnoor Kaur from Jalandhar; Anshav Jindal from Ferozepur; Shahdeep Singh from Faridkot; Disha Thakur, Jasnoor Kaur, Varnika, Vanisha and Arshpreet Kaur from Mohali; Subhpreet Singh, Jobanpreet Singh, Manavjot Singh and Simranjeet Kaur from Sangrur.
