Mohali girl romps home with 2 titles

LUDHIANA: Aarushi Arora from Mohali stamped her superiority as she annexed two titles in the 3rd Punjab State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament that concluded at Shastri Hall, near Guru Nanak Stadium, on Wednesday.

Aarushi Arora from Mohali stamped her superiority as she annexed two titles in the 3rd Punjab State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament that concluded at Shastri Hall, near Guru Nanak Stadium, on Wednesday. Aarushi has wrapped up titles in the junior and youth girls’ section.

Yashi from Ferozepur won a title in the women’s section while Vikramaditya from Amritsar clinched a title in the men’s category. Harman Saini from Mohali lifted a title in the junior boys’ group and Nikhil Saini from Patiala emerged winner in the youth boys’ group.

In the junior girls’ final, Aarushi Arora overpowered Pragati Priya of Mohali by 7-11, 11-8, 11-6 and 11-9 to fetch the title. In the youth girls’ category, she defeated Yashi in straight sets by 11-9, 11-8 and 11-8 to romp home victorious.

In the women’s section, Yashi got the better of Neha Patial of Jalandhar whom she beat 3-0 (11-9, 11-8 and 11-9) to lay her hands on the winners’ trophy. In the men’s final, Vikramadiya scripted victory over Nikhil with a score of 3-0 (11-6, 11-9 and 11-8) to win the title.

In the sub-junior girls’ final, Pragati Priya defeated Sehajpreet Kaur of Ludhiana by 3-0 (11-9, 11-4 and 11-8) to secure top honours. In the sub-junior boys’ group, Suhaan from Jalandhar pipped his town mate Hardik by 3-1 (11-7, 11-9, 8-11 and 12-10) to romp home triumphant.

HS Chhatwal, president, Ludhiana District Table Tennis Association, distributed gave away the prizes.
