Mohali will have Punjab’s first dog pound soon. This was stated by the Cooperation and Jails Minister, Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, while presiding over district grievances redressal committee meeting at the District Administrative Complex in Sector 76 here today.
The minister asked Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan and Municipal Commissioner Kamal Kumar to work out a plan for setting up dog pound in the area to deal with the stray dogs menace effectively.
Such pound would be the first one in the state, said Randhawa while telling officials concerned to submit their draft report in this regard at the next meeting. He also issued directions to ensure proper cleanliness in the district.
The Mohali SSP was instructed to deal with the issue of drug menace sternly. Randhawa asked the police to strengthen their base at the village level and involve villagers to wipe out the drug menace from the area.
Randhawa also gave instructions for shifting Government Home for Destitute Children, Dusarna, to Mohali.
