Pulse polio drive covers 55,635 children on Day 1

JALANDHAR: The Health Department administered polio drops to 55,635 children between 0-5 years of age on the first day of three-day migratory pulse polio drive started on Sunday.

The Health Department administered polio drops to 55,635 children between 0-5 years of age on the first day of three-day migratory pulse polio drive started on Sunday.

A spokesperson of the Health Department said during the drive on Sunday, 1,089 health teams administered polio drops to 12,820 children in rural areas and 42,815 children in urban areas. He said 1,089 teams were formed for this purpose and 152 supervisors were deputed to carry out the drive. Besides, front line health workers including Asha, multiple health workers, college students and others took part in the drive, he added.

He said special mobile health teams visited bus stand, railway station, markets and other areas during the drive and administrated polio drops to the children.

He said migratory population residing in slums and brick kilns was being specially covered in this drive.
