A Dera Bassi-based 1984 riots victim, Harvinder Singh Kohli, who was a witness in the Sajjan Kumar case, today alleged that he was threatened by Paramjit Singh Sarna, religious adviser to Punjab Chief Minister, over the phone.

Kohli, who claimed that a DDR has been lodged at Phase 1 police station, Mohali, in this regard, said Sarna called him up today after watching a video clip in which he (Kolhi) had alleged that Sarna, a former president of the DSGMC, had refused to participate in a dharna in connection with justice for the riot victims 10 years ago.

Refuting the claim, Sarna said: “During our talk, he provoked me and I lost my cool. I didn’t threaten him. I will send him a notice for defaming me.”

Sarna also alleged that Kohli was being used by the Akalis to defame him.

While demanding security from the local police, Kohli said after Sarna’s call he was feeling threatened. “Sarna threatened me and used derogatory language on the phone,” alleged Kohli.

Gurbant Singh, SHO, Phase 1 police station, said he was not aware about the DDR in question. “I was on some VIP duty. I have no knowledge of the DDR against Sarna,” said the SHO.
