UGC NAAC team visits Arki college

A peer team of the UGC''s National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) paid a two-day visit to the Government College, Arki, to examine its performance in academics, administration, extra-curricular activities and the overall development of the institution in the past five years.

A peer team of the UGC's National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) paid a two-day visit to the Government College, Arki, to examine its performance in academics, administration, extra-curricular activities and the overall development of the institution in the past five years. The team comprised three members - Chairman Prof Ali Raza Moosvi, member-coordinator Prof H Surya Prakash Rao and member Prof Inder Jeet. College Principal Rita Sharma elaborated on the development works undertaken by the college administration from 2013 to 2018. The Coordinator of Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Prof Kanwar Dinesh Singh, presented the details of the perspective plans and action-taken reports of the cell in the five years. The team also inspected the college and interacted with teachers, students, parents, alumni and non-teaching staff of the college. The work of various cells, clubs and subject societies was also examined. 

Children Science Congress held 

Noorpur Public School excelled in the 27th Children Science Congress held at Government Senior Secondary School at Raja Ka Talab on September 20-21, bagging top positions in various activities. Of the 20 participating students, 16 secured top positions. Fourteen students will be representing Nurpur block at the district level in October. Principal Punam Dogra and manager Arvind Dogra congratulated the winners. Meanwhile, students of DAV Ambuja Vidya Niketan Public School, Darlaghat, won 11 positions at Children Science Congress event held at GSSS, Darlaghat. All winners received participation trophy and a certificate. The shortlisted students will participate at the district level. More than 72 schools participated in the event. School Chairman Anupam Agarwal, Principal Mukesh Thakur and the school staff congratulated the entire team and wished them luck for the next event. 

Night camping for varsity students 

The School of Hospitality and Tourism, Bahra University, organised night camping for students of tourism at the adjoining Hirthi Devi temple. Eight students from MTTM first year and BTTM third year volunteered for the trek along with Neeraj Chauhan, Assistant Professor, and Parikshit Sharma, Head of the Department. They were apprised of the camping techniques, including pitching of tents, preparing food with limited resources, protecting the local environment and cleaning the area after camping. In view of the World Tourism Week, various activities such as a short movie on the Indian Mountaineering Federation's Adventure Tourism would be showcased and a photography competition as well as a heritage walk to Shimla would also be undertaken. Vice Chancellor Piush Verma elaborated on the multi-dimensional scope of employment opportunities provided by the tourism industry and said the industry generated 10 per cent of the total jobs globally.

Drawing contest at Shivalik school 

A drawing competition for classes II and III was held at Shivalik International Convent School, Jawalamukhi. Students, who drew butterflies, fruit, peacocks, landscapes and huts, had a lot of fun.
