SOLAN: A team of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau caught Excise and Taxation Officer Jyoti Swarup Sharma while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 at his residence in Baddi today.

A team of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau caught Excise and Taxation Officer Jyoti Swarup Sharma while accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 at his residence in Baddi today.

Jyoti was caught accepting the bribe from a woman accounts executive employed at a private firm in lieu of returning a fixed deposit taken for availing tax payer’s identification number as the company was closing its operations.

DIG Arvind Sharda said the ETO was arrested by a team of DSPs comprising Dinesh Kumar and Shakuntala and a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act had been registered. — TNS
