Amritsar, December 15

Amritsar Vikas Manch in a communiqué to the government on Sunday urged that it must plan and acquire at least 1,000 acres of land in the vicinity of the holy city for the establishment of a medicity here. The members of the manch said the establishment of medicity would turn the city into a hub of medical tourism and would also give a boost to the industries that manufacture the required goods and infrastructure for the same. They also highlighted the presence of a government medical college and other medical institutes, here in the city, with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and specialists of different medical fields too are available in plenty here, they said. Keeping in view the religious, historical and political significance of the holy city, the government should plan and establish a medicity here, they said.
