Amritsar: The Amritsar Central Jail authorities confiscated two mobile phones from three jail inmates during routine checking here on Friday. Ajmer Singh, assistant superintendent, told the police that during checking of room number 2 of barrack number 4, the jail staff recovered a smart mobile phone with SIM card from Harcharan Singh, who belonged to Delhi. Similarly, another mobile phone was seized from Amanjit Singh of Ludhiana and Malkiat Singh of Ghadli village in Jandiala. He said the duo was lodged in the same room and barrack. During checking the jail staff found a mobile phone and charger from under the blankets of the accused. The police registered two cases under Sections 42 and 52-A of the Prisons Act against them for violating jail manual. TNS
Two snatching incidents in city
Amritsar : A staff nurse, Manjinder Kaur, employed at Sri Guru Ram Dass Hospital at Vallah was robbed by two bike-borne persons at Sultanwind link road. In a statement to the police, she said when she reached near Sultanwind link road on her scooter, two motorcycle-borne youth intercepted her. She said the accused snatched her scooter and fled the spot. She said she had her purse and mobile phone inside the scooter dickey. Sultanwind police have registered a case under Section 379 B of the IPC. In another incident around six unknown persons snatched a mobile phone and cash from a railway employee near Vallah canal. The victim, Balkar Singh, who works as a line man was going to his duty when the incident took place. The accused had also thrashed the victim. A case under Section 379 B (2) of the IPC. TNS
