3 snatching cases reported from Amritsar



Amritsar, February 28

A tourist was among the three persons who fell victim to snatchers here on Thursday.

In the first incident, a snatcher was nabbed by the people while his accomplice managed to escape.

Ram Krishna Vishvanath Navle, who had come to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple, told the police that he, along with his family, was returning to hotel at 9.15 pm when two motorcycle-borne persons came and snatched his purse containing Rs 65, 000, an ATM card, gold ring and a cheque book and fled away. The police have registered a case.

Similarly, a local resident Paramjot Sing said he and his mother Satinder Kaur Azad were going towards Novelty Chowk by foot when a bike-borne person snatched his mother’s purse, which had a mobile phone, four debit cards, Rs 60,000 and documents. The incident occurred on the Madan Mohan Malivya road. A case has been registered.

In the third incident, two snatchers tried to snatch a mobile phone from Gagandeep Singh, who was returning home. The incident occurred near Drumma Wala Bazaar on the Sultanwind road. Singh gave chase and managed to catch Malkiat Raj Singh, who fell from the bike. His accomplice Rai of Chatiwind village managed to escape. — TNS
