An inter-section kho-kho tournament was organised by the sports unit of MIER College of Education. The students of undergraduate and postgraduate departments played the match which was inaugurated by Dr Adit Gupta, principal of MIER College of Education. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gupta said sports and games helped in inculcating different values and team-spirit among students. More than 54 students participated from all the wings of the college.

Sports festival At Rajouri

In the ongoing Inter-Colligate Sports Festival at Government PG College, Rajouri, matches in the disciplines of cricket, kabaddi, volleyball, badminton and kho-kho were held on Wednesday. The festival was held under the supervision of Rakesh Puri and Tanwir Ahmed of department of physical education. Twenty officials of the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) are also officiating in the events.

Army distributes stationery

The Army on Wednesday distributed stationary at a madrassa in Patnazi with an aim to engage students of the madarssa in educational activities to wean them away from separatist ideology besides bringing them in the national mainstream through education. Students, teachers and locals expressed their gratitude towards the Army for the noble initiative.

Donation drive organised

Rich Harvest School on Wednesday held a donation drive at Government District Hospital, Samba, which was exclusively meant for patients who belonged to the weaker sections of society. The school collaborated with Swati Gupta, Sub Judge of District Legal Services Authority, Samba. The students made the gathering aware against the menace of plastic waste management. Anita Khajuria, school coordinator, distributed clothes to the underprivileged patients of the hospital.

MoU signed

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu, and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the IIM, Jammu campus, in the presence of Dr Sunil Shukla, Director, EDII, Dr BS Sahay, Director, IIM, Jammu, and Dr GM Dar, Director, J&K EDII. The objective of this MoU was to provide knowledge and support to the students and develop ecosystem to support budding start-ups.

Lectures at Jindrah GDC

In continuation with a series of lectures related to “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Programme, Government Degree College (GDC) -Jindrah, organised a lecture on the culture of Tamil Nadu under the guidance of principal Dr Rajshree Dhar. She delivered a lecture on relevance of “National integration” and also motivated the students of the college to participate in these kind of activities for gaining more knowledge and exposure. Prof Paramjeet Singh Prof Poonam Rainu, HoD, sociology, delivered a lecture on “Culture of six primitive tribes of Tamil Nadu”.
