Ludhiana, February 13
This 13-year-old boy from the city has a special Valentine’s Day message for youngsters and even for adults of all age groups.
Class VIII student Armaan Chatly’s message is short, sweet and clear – reach out to the needy, have compassion for animals, nurture plants and share a smile with your own self. To put across his message on social network, he has made a short video that tells the story of a young boy who feels sad and depressed on Valentine’s Day.
The boy notices a stray dog that is hungry. Instead of wallowing in misery, the boy decides to feed the mongrel. The stray dog is quick to show its joy that rubs off on the boy too. The boy carries on with some more good deeds. He waters withering plants, gives water to a thirsty cow. And by the time he is through with it all, the dark clouds have vanished and he is in a happy space.
“We, youngsters, get distracted by so many things, including dating apps. Many suffer from problems like depression. The easiest way to tide over tough times is doing something good for someone. And that someone could be an animal, a plant and even your own self,” says Armaan, who is a volunteer with Dhyan Foundation, an NGO that works for the welfare of humans and animals alike.
