New Delhi, February 20

Obtaining real-time data on sources of pollution, launching a plantation drive besides involving local residents are some of the key measures the newly elected AAP government will take to fight pollution in the national capital.

A round-table conference will be held on February 27 in the Delhi Secretariat. Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday met with environment officials, DPCC scientists and forest officials to discuss strategic solutions to various environmental issues pertaining to Delhi.

The government has partnered with Washington University to obtain real-time data to monitor the sources of pollution in Delhi.

“Environmental solutions should be treated as a mass movement. Until we gather information about the sources of pollution, we will not be able to devise any mechanism. We have managed to reduce pollution by 25% in the national capital,” he added. The report will be released next month.
