Navy Chief Admiral DK Tripathi on week-long visit to US

Indian Navy Chief Admiral DK Tripathi has proceeded on a week-long (November 12-17) visit to the US.

During the visit, the Admiral is scheduled to hold discussions with senior officials of the US Department of War.

Admiral Tripathi is scheduled to meet Admiral  Samuel J Paparo, Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), and Admiral  Stephen T Koehler, Commander, United States Pacific Fleet (USPACFLT), besides senior naval leadership, over a maritime partnership between the Indian Navy and the United States Navy, a key pillar of the India-US Defence partnership.

Discussions are expected to focus on shared maritime priorities in the Indo-Pacific, collaboration within multilateral frameworks such as exercise MILAN, to be hosted by India early next year. India and the US are also a part of the multi-lateral construct, the combined maritime forces (CMF) in the areas around the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.

India and the United States share a long-standing maritime partnership rooted in mutual trust and shared values. The two navies share a commitment of ensuring a free, open, inclusive, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.

These interactions will provide an opportunity to review ongoing maritime cooperation, enhance operational-level linkages, and strengthen mechanisms for information-sharing and maritime domain awareness between the two navies.

During the visit, Admiral Tripathi will also include engagements with key naval institutions and operational commands of the US Navy.
