Akal Takht has asked the Centre not to impose restrictions on pilgrims going to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.

Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said unless the government imposed a ban on foreign visitors, any ban on Kartarpur devotees would not be appropriate.

After virtually closing down entry of foreign tourists to India, access of Indian devotees from Dera Baba Nanak town through the Kartarpur Sahib corridor to visit Kartarpur Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan has come under the scanner of the Union Home Ministry and there is likelihood that the corridor access could be suspended.

The 4.1-km corridor links Dera Baba Nanak town in Gurdaspur district with Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Narowal district of Pakistan.

Abohar college cancels convocation

Abohar: DAV College here has cancelled its March 18 convocation. The students of 2011-2016 batches were invited for the event. Principal Rajesh Kumar Mahajan said the convocation was cancelled in response to an advisory issued by the state government. Meanwhile, the Health Department in Sriganganagar on Friday launched a training programme for field workers. OC
