Crackdown on bakeries operating under unhygienic conditions

Food safety team of Ludhiana, under the leadership of District Health Officer Amarjit Kaur, conducted detailed inspections of various bakeries across the city that manufacture fruit cakes, buns, rusks and cream rolls.

During the inspections, several bakeries were found operating under unhygienic conditions. On-the-spot challans were issued and samples of various food items and raw materials were collected for laboratory testing. Collected items included two types of fruit cakes, cream, salt, used cooking oil, palm oil, milk cake, rusks and cream rolls. The samples hsave been sent to the State Food Laboratory for thorough analysis. Strict action will be taken based on laboratory reports, in accordance with the food safety laws. Dr Amarjit Kaur said: “Ensuring food safety for our citizens is our topmost priority. No bakery or food unit will be allowed to compromise public health through unhygienic practices. We are committed to enforcing the law strictly.”
