Amritsar, October 13

A group of journalists invited by former SAD MLA Amarpal Singh Boni to cover illegal mining in his area had a horrific time when villagers attacked his cavalcade while it was on its way back from Ballarwal village.

The attackers broke the windowpanes of some vehicles and hurled abuses. Boney, son of former MP Rattan Singh Ajnala, is trying to regain political ground after his family’s fallout with SAD leadership.

Political observers see his invitation to cover illegal mining as an effort to remain in news. He had represented the constituency as SAD MLA for 10 years. However, even after the incident, Boney did not allow journalists to leave without a splendid lunch at his house.

Health cards distributed

Former Cabinet Minister and BJP leader Anil Joshi on Sunday distributed cards under the Ayushman Bharat-Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna scheme at an event in Ward Number 14 of the Municipal Corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, Joshi credited the BJP government at the centre for starting the medical insurance scheme for poor, which entitled them to a cashless medical treatment of upto five lakh per family.
