The Gate Hakima police have arrested a youth, identified as Karan, for allegedly uploading a child pornography video on a social media platform, Facebook.

Besides Karan, the police also booked his brother Lovish of Vadda Haripura locality under Section 67-B of the Information Technology Act.

According to information, the Facebook authorities lodged a complaint with the Ministry of Home Affairs about uploading of child pornography video on its messenger and forwarded all the details about the IP addresses of the systems from where it was uploaded.

Taking serious cognizance of it, the MHA forwarded the complaint to the Punjab Police for further necessary action. The cyber cell wing of the police found that the mobiles used in the crime were owned by Karan. The police authorities asked the local police to register an FIR and take further necessary action.

Ranjit Singh, SHO, Gate Hakima police, said after registering an FIR, the police arrested Karan who runs a mobile repair shop. He said his brother Lovish’s role was being ascertained. He was yet to be arrested.
