1 nabbed with 3.5-kg heroin in Sarhali Kala

A patrolling team of the Sarhali police arrested a man, identified as Akashdeep Singh, alias Akash, a resident of Sito Meh Jhuggian village, with 3.915 kg heroin at Sarhali Kala village here on Monday night.

Sub-Inspector Amreek Singh, posted at the Sarhali police station, who was leading the team, said here on Tuesday that when they reached near a T-point in Sarhali Kala, the suspect reached the spot on a motorcycle. The police team, on the basis of suspicion, stopped and searched him and recovered the contraband from his possession.

A case under Sections 21-C, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him. The accused was produced in a court and was remanded in two-day police custody.
