As many as 1,430 students were awarded degrees during the 119th annual convocation ceremony held at the Khalsa College in Amritsar on Monday. Degrees were bestowed upon students from 50 different graduate and post-graduate programmes. Additionally, 60 meritorious students were honoured with medals and certificates for their exceptional academic performance.
Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) president and Khalsa University (KU) Chancellor Satyajit Singh Majithia encouraged the students to conquer the world with their abilities, while remaining rooted to their values. “The challenges are global and technology promises to open new frontiers of knowledge. Keep learning and growing. Kill the ego and the Almighty will help you scale new heights,” he told the students.
KCGC secretary and KU Pro-Chancellor Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina presided over the function and motivated the graduating students to follow their dreams. “But never forget the sacrifices made by your parents and teachers,” he added.
Principal Atam Singh Randhawa read the college’s progress report, highlighting the achievements in academics, sports and cultural activities. He said the institute was proud to have been awarded an “A+” accreditation by the NAAC and informed the gathering that the college’s BSc Agriculture degree had received an Indian Council of Agricultural Research accreditation.
