15 imposters caught at IELTS exam centre

AMRITSAR: As many as 15 imposters, who had gone to appear in a written examination of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), were caught by the agency conducting the exam at a local hotel in the city on Saturday.

As many as 15 imposters, who had gone to appear in a written examination of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), were caught by the agency conducting the exam at a local hotel in the city on Saturday. The accused were handed over to the police.

Sanjeev, who provide services to IDP, said, “The accused were caught before entering the examination hall. We matched the photographs on passports with the faces of the candidates before the fingerprint match. They confessed that they had come to appear for others.”

The officials of exam conducting agency claimed that the most of the boys were from the reputed professional colleges of the state. They did it to make money. One of the imposters has recently returned from Australia. He wanted to earn money by appearing as fake candidate.

“They were hired by a person, identified Navjot, by offering Rs 30,000 per examination. We have handed them over to the police and filed a complaint at the Civil Lines police station,” Sanjeev added.

Till late evening, the police hadn’t registered any case.
