AMRITSAR: The police have booked a woman among two persons in connection with the death of her mother.

Amritsar, August 17

The police have booked a woman among two persons in connection with the death of her mother. They have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder as the deceased died accidentally after falling down during an altercation.

Those booked were identified as Jasmeen Kaur of Kot Baba Deep Singh and Jassi, a local resident. The deceased was Lata Devi, a resident of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar.

Complainant Kuljit Kaur, elder daughter of the deceased, stated to the police that Jasmeen used to live at her parental house and usually had a fight with her mother. On Thursday, she had come to meet her mother and found Jasmeen quarrelling with her. She said her son tried to stop her, following which she pushed her mother. The latter fell down on the bed and went unconscious. Jasmeen fled the scene. Kuljit said she along with her son took Lata Devi to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Holding Jasmeen responsible of her death, the complainant alleged she used to fight with her mother at the instigation of Jassi. The police have registered a case under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in this connection. No arrest has been made so far. — TNS
