2 booked on charge of assault

The police have booked two persons for attacking two youngsters on Lohri. According to information, the suspects, who lit a bonfire in the street, thrashed the victims and hit them with a pistol.

The suspects have been identified as Lali Joura and Captain Dhuna, both residents of Main Bazaar Kot Harnam Dass of Sultanwind Road area.

Akashdeep Singh of Guru Nanakpura told the police that on January 13, he came to his aunt’s house in Main Bazaar Kot Harnam Dass for celebrating Lohri.

Akashdeep said he, along with his cousin Jaspreet Singh, was returning home at Guru Nanakpura and in the street, the suspects were celebrating Lohri and lit a bonfire. He said they asked them for the way to pass, but the suspects started beating them up and Lali Jour hit him with his pistol, leaving him injured. He said the suspects also threaten him.

ASI Kuldeep Singh, who is investigating the matter, said a case under Sections 336,323,341, 506 and 34 of the IPC and Sections 27/54/59 of the Arms Act had been against the suspects.

4 booked for attack on couple

The police booked a DJ operator and his friends for attacking a man and his wife. The suspects were said to be under the influence of liquor. In the attack, the victims received injuries.

The suspects have been identified as Vicky DJ Wala, Prince and Chikku. Complainant Bubba Malkit Singh of Verka told the police that he, along with his wife and brother-in-law, was celebrating Lohri at his home and Vicky, who was under influence of alcohol, came and started using an abusive language.

Thereafter, he entered into a scuffle and neighbours intervened in the matter, the complainant added.

Malkeet said after sometime when he, along with his wife, was returning from the market, Vicky and other accomplices attacked them. The suspects fled away when the victims raised the alarm.

ASI Love Kumar said the suspects were still at large and they would be arrested soon.
