According to the police, Harman Kaur’s body was found in a room of a locked house belonging to a resident of Sarhali. Though married, she had been living with her mother, Beer Kaur, in Thatha village.

Harman Kaur worked with an orchestra group and often remained away from home for several days. Binderjit Singh, SHO, Sarhali police station, said that the victim’s mother told investigators that Harman was taken away by her elder sister Mandeep Kaur on May 25.

Mandeep Kaur later informed her mother about the recovery of Harman’s body from a house in the village on June 12. The SHO said that Harman allegedly lived with Jashanpreet Singh Jassi, a resident of Sarhali.
