Amritsar, November 6

Deputy Commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha has said that 267 people have been challaned after detection of dengue larva on their premises. The district administration has formed a dengue task force to keep a check.

The district has so far reported 539 cases of which 244 have been tested positive for dengue. The DC said that diagnosis and treatment services of dengue were being given free of cost at government hospitals.

Sangha said 15 teams had been working in the district to keep a check on the situation. The teams are conducting fogging in different localities from where cases have been reported. The DC said residents should keep their surroundings clean. Water shouldn’t be allowed to stagnate as it triggers mosquito breeding. He said a fine of up to Rs 500 can be imposed if dengue larvae is detected. — TNS
