AMRITSAR: The border zone of the PSPCL has detected 284 power theft incidents and imposed a fine to the tune of about Rs55 lakh. The border zone comprises the districts of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot.

The border zone of the PSPCL has detected 284 power theft incidents and imposed a fine to the tune of about Rs55 lakh. The border zone comprises the districts of Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot.

Sandeep Kumar Sood, Chief Engineer, PSPCL (Border Zone), said a fine of Rs23.79 lakh was imposed on 79 defaulters in Tarn Taran district. He said as many as 74 cases were reported from the sub-urban circle of Amritsar where Rs14.35 lakh was fined. According to the Chief Engineer, a fine of Rs12.10 lakh was imposed on 115 offenders in Gurdaspur.

According to information, 115 power consumers were raided and 16 were found to be stealing electricity in the Amritsar urban area. A fine of Rs4.88 lakh was imposed on the defaulters. — TNS
