The three-day long 28th Punjab Science Congress and National Conference on “Current Trends in Science and Technology” under the aegis of Punjab Academy of Science, Patiala, commenced at Khalsa College.

Dr Mehal Singh, Vice Chancellor of Khalsa University, Amritsar, Prof Tarlok Singh, president of Punjab Academy of Sciences and Prof NR Dhamiwal, secretary, PAS, were the guests of honour.

Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina in his address urged the people to adopt scientific temperament and outlook as it is necessary for the progress of society. He emphasised the need to nurture the spirit of innovation in young minds to bring out scientific discoveries for the welfare of the people.

Dr Mehal Singh appreciated the endeavours of the Punjab Science Congress and congratulated Khalsa College for hosting the event.

Dr Rajbir Singh Sohi, organising secretary of the Punjab Science Congress, said the programme had been organised by the faculty of sciences under the patronage of Punjab Academy of Sciences, Patiala.
