Ajnala: 300 girls from flood-hit villages receive aid

Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust gave away financial help to 300 girls living in the flood-affected villages across Ajnala under its ‘Marriage Scheme’. Launched to help affected families with daughters of marriageable age, the trust gave cheques of one lakh each to eight other girls for assistance.

“Today, the families of eight daughters from Amritsar district, 27 from Tarn Taran and 21 from Ferozepur were given one lakh rupees each for marriage, till now the marriages of 92 daughters have been facilitated financially by the trust. We will be reaching to 24 other daughters of Fazilka area and till date the trust has donated Rs 3 crore for the marriages in all flood affected areas in Punjab,” the trust’s founder patron, Dr SP Singh Oberoi, said.
