4 arrested with pistol, revolver

Amritsar, August 16 

The CIA staff arrested four persons with illegal weapons on Tuesday. 

The accused have been identified as Jagseer Singh, alias Jass, (32) of New Golden Avenue, Taranbir Singh, alias Tarn (32), of Kot Baba Buddha in Tarn Taran, Gurbhej Singh (19) of Patti Pullewali in Sarhali (Tarn Taran), and Iqbal Singh, alias Pali (23), of Khara village in Sarhali. A case under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against them. 

ACP (Investigation) Palwinder Singh said the police had recovered a .32 bore revolver, its cartridges and a .30 bore countrymade pistol from the accused.

The ACP said that the accused were intercepted at a checkpoint near the Golden Gate while the checking of vehicles ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. 

He said though one of the accused claimed that the revolver was licensed one, he could not produce its documents. The cops will also investigate their association with any radical outfit.— TNS
