Amritsar, November 19

The drive to immunise children against polio began here on Sunday. Health staff administered polio drops to 53,301 children on the first day. The three-day drive targets to immunise 1,24,083 children of migrants.

Health officials said the special focus was on migrants, so teams would visit brick kilns, slums, factories and remote areas. Civil Surgeon Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai, while inaugurating the drive, appealed to people to cooperate with the health teams.
