6 mobile phones found in jail

Amritsar: The Amritsar Central Jail authorities have seized six mobile phones from the high security complex. Three mobile phones were seized from as many inmates while three others were found abandoned. Assistant Superintendent Amarjit Singh said during checking of room NO. 2 in barrack NO. 2, a mobile was found from Subheg Singh of Harsha Chhina while another phone was seized from Sarmail Singh of Jathoal village. From room NO. 2 of barrack No. 1, a mobile was confiscated from Bagh Hussain of Kahnuwan. Another phone was found abandoned in a dustbin. Meanwhile, during patrolling, the jail staff found two mobiles and bundles of cigarettes. Assistant Superintendent Ravail Singh said a packet carrying 10 bundles of cigarettes and broken blade pieces was found. Similarly, an unclaimed packet containing two boxes of cigarettes and two mobile phones was spotted at the rear of barrack number 3. The police have registered two separate cases. TNS

Finance company employee robbed

Amritsar: A finance company employee was robbed by four armed persons in Teda Khurd village falling under the Jhander police station here on Wednesday. Inderjit Singh, a resident of Harkrishan Nagar here, said he was working as field officer in Satin Micro Finance company. He said on Wednesday he was going towards Teda Khurd village falling under the Jhander police station for collection of instalments. He said four unknown persons travelling on two bikes came from behind and stopped him. The victim said they snatched his bag containing over Rs 27,000, a tab and other important documents. The police have registered a case. TNS

One held with 750-gm heroin

Tarn Taran: The Goindwal Sahib police arrested one Manjit Singh of Dhun Dhae Wala with 750-gram heroin on Wednesday. SSP Dhruman H Nimbale today said a police party, led by Inspector Harinder Singh and Goindwal Sahib DSP Jaspreet Singh, nabbed the accused from the area. A case has been registered. OC
