Four persons, including six-month-old twins, were killed and a seven-year-old girl injured after the roof of their house collapsed late on Thursday night at Mullechak village on the outskirts of the city.

The deceased were identified as Ajay Kumar, Manvi and their six-month-old twins. The injured girl, identified as Naina, who was injured was rushed to a hospital. She is reportedly mentally challenged.

According to information, the incident occurred at 1.30 am. After hearing the sound of the roof collapse, neighbours immediately reached the spot and started a rescue operation. However, the victims died on the spot. Ajay Kumar was a vegetable vendor.

Residents of the area said the roof of the house collapsed due to rain. The family was sleeping when the incident occurred.

A fire officer said the people did not inform the fire brigade about the incident. He said the incident came to their knowledge in the morning when some mediapersons informed them. He said teams were dispatched to the spot.

A Congress leader said they would make all possible help to the injured victim. He said it was an unfortunate incident.
