Health officials claimed to have immunised 94 per cent of the targeted children in the district under the MR measles and rubella immunisation campaign. At a meeting with health officials, Deputy Commissioner Kamaldeep Singh Sangha congratulated the officials for the successful drive. Sangha said 5,52,892 children had been immunised till date.
The department had targeted to immunise around 6.5 lakh children in the age group of nine months and 15 years.
Civil Surgeon Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai said the department had targeted to finish the job before the onset of summer vacations but due to some rumours the drive, it got delayed. District Immunisation Officer Dr Ramesh Pal Singh said teams were still visiting schools they were hopeful that they would be able to complete 100 per cent target. He thanked parents, schools and others for supporting the drive.
